Barcelona Transfer News: The Blaugrana are in the midst of their worst LaLiga campaign in several years. To add to this, there is an injury crisis at the club.
Most of their forwards have been out of action and have hardly played this season. Currently, both Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembele are on the sidelines owing to injuries. Also, Sergio Aguero has been diagnosed with a heart problem and would be unavailable for 3 months.
Barcelona have also been going through a tough period altogether. They have had problems both on and off the field. The club is suffering from a financial crisis, which was also the reason why they did not retain Lionel Messi. Barcelona are currently 9th in the LaLiga table and have just 4 wins from 12 games.
The only ray of hope for The Blaugrana has been the appointment of club legend Xavi as their manager. And it looks like the Spaniard may sign a Chinese Super League player as his first-ever signing.
Barcelona eye Cedric Bakambu
According to El Nacional, The Blaugrana are reportedly interested in signing the Beijing Guoan forward Cedric Bakambu. The 30-year-old has been with Beijing since January 2018. He has 2 months remaining in his contract and would be a free agent in January.
Barcelona reportedly tried to bring the striker this summer as well, but then went against the decision due to their financial situation. At Beijing Guoan, Bakambu has scored 58 goals in the 87 games that he has played.
The striker also has previous experience of playing in La Liga. He has previously represented Villareal for four seasons.
In his 105 games for the Yellow Submarine, Bakambu has 48 goals in all competitions. This equates to a goal ratio of 0.46 during his time with Villareal.
Reportedly, Barcelona are looking to end the stay of Dutch striker Luuk de Jong at the club. The striker is on a one-year loan period from Sevilla, but Barcelona are looking to end it in January.
With Xavi Hernandez at the helm now, it has to be seen how the club proceeds. This is not the first time that Barça have targeted a CSL player. Barcelona had also picked out Paulinho from Guangzhou FC, back in 2017.
Other strikers the Blaugrana are interested in…
Barcelona are interested in other strikers as well. And have chiefly been looking towards the Premier League to replace Sergio Aguero.
We had posted earlier that Barcelona had reportedly made a four-man shortlist for Sergio Aguero. It remains to be seen who would be filling the boots of the Argentine striker for the time being.
