Barcelona Transfer News: Miralem Pjanic is out of favour at FC Barcelona, so it’s said that Ligue 1 powerhouse Lyon wants to bring him back this summer
Barcelona Transfer News: Gerard Romero, a respected Spanish journalist, says that Barcelona’s main goal in the early days of the summer transfer window before the economic levers take full effect is to get rid of players they don’t want.
One of these players is Miralem Pjanic, a Bosnian midfielder who used to play for Lyon, who is now interested in him.
In the deal that sent Miralem Pjanic to Barcelona from Juventus almost two years ago, Arthur went the other way. In 2022, none of the four people involved in the transfer are happy with how things turned out.
Barcelona Transfer News: What’s the matter?
In particular, the 32-year-old has not been able to break into the first team at Camp Nou.
Ronald Koeman didn’t use the Bosnian international much during the 2020-21 season. So Barcelona loaned him to Besiktas last summer.
But even though Pjanic did better at the Turkish club, he won’t move there permanently and isn’t sure what his long-term plans are right now.
Since he won’t be going to Barcelona, he needs to find a solution as soon as possible to be in good shape for the 2022/23 season. And Pjanic’s old team, Lyon, could help him leave Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
The big teams in Ligue 1 have been busy in the transfer market this summer. They brought back Alexandre Lacazette and Corentin Tolisso on free transfers, among other moves. Now, Les Gones want to bring back another former player, and Pjanic is on their list.
Pjanic’s future?
The player who was kicked out of Barcelona last season, played for Lyon for three years, from 2008 to 2011.
He played more than 100 times for the French club. And a move back to the Groupama Stadium could be just what Pjanic needs at this point in his career since Lyon wants to replace Houssem Aouar, who could leave this summer.
Romero says that the French powerhouses have made an offer to Barcelona to bring Pjanic back. But if the move to Lyon doesn’t happen, the 32-year-old will have plenty of other options. Just recently, Al-Nassr said they would like to sign him from Barcelona.
