La Liga Giants FC Barcelona are looking to make two new signings in the upcoming January transfer window.

After a poor last season, Barcelona made a lot of signings during the summer transfer window. Players like Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, Franck Kessie, Hector Bellerin and Marcos Alonso joined the Catalan giants.

The summer signings did not take much time to settle and Barcelona got a strong start to their la Liga season. The Blaugrana won nine out of their first eleven matches. With twenty-eight points, they are currently in the second position in the table, 3 points behind defending champions Real Madrid.

However, their performance in the UEFA Champions League is quite opposite. Barcelona lost three of their first five matches in the UCL. They have got only four points so far and have been relegated to the Europa League.

Now after their recent performance in the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona management have identified the issues with the team.

According to Sport, the Blaugrana want to make two signings in the upcoming January transfer window to add more quality to the squad.

The first one on the list is a replacement for Sergio Busquets. 34-year-old Busquets has been a starter for Barcelona for over a decade. The defensive midfielder has now past his prime and is nearing the end of his contract. It is understood that he does not want to renew with Barcelona beyond this season.

Busquets’s performances in the big matches have been below par. So Barcelona are thinking to get a replacement for him as early as next January. their primary target for the role was martin Zubimendi. The Real Sociedad player just extended his contract a few weeks ago. So his signing has been almost ruled out.

The other one on the list is Ruben Neves. The Portuguese international has admitted his desire to play for the Blaugrana. Although his profile is quite different from Busquets’, the midfielder is currently leading the race to become the successor of the Barcelona captain.

The second position on the list is a new right-back. Barcelona brought Hector Bellerin at the start of the season. But the right-back is yet to stamp his authority in Camp Nou. As a result, Barcelona have played Sergi Roberto, Jules Kounde and Ronald Araujo in the right-back position on quite a few occasions.

Roberto is now out for a long time with a shoulder injury. Araujo too is currently sidelined with an injury that he suffered during the last international window. And Kounde plays his best football when played centrally.

So Barcelona are looking at a few options to strengthen the right-back position. Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot is one of the big names on that list. Barcelona tried o sign the full-back in the last window too but failed to do so. Now they will try to sign him in January again.
