La Liga giants FC Barcelona are interested to sign Italian international Jorginho in the upcoming January transfer window.
Born in Brazil, Jorginho moved to Italy at a very early age. The midfielder then joined the academy of the Italian club, Hellas Verona.
After his graduation from the Hellas Verona academy, he was loaned out to Serie-C2 side, Sambonifacese for a year. Jorginho then came back from a successful loan deal and made his Verona debut in 2011. The midfielder then joined the Italian side Napoli in the January window of 2014.
The Italian midfielder made 160 appearances for the Italian side in his four-and-a-half season at the club. He finally joined Chelsea during the summer transfer window of 2017. Jorginho has already represented Italy on the international stage. He played a huge part in Italy’s Euro Cup victory.
Barcelona to Rival Milan for Jorginho

Despite a slow start to his Chelsea career, Jorginho rose as one of the best midfielders in the world. The Italian had a terrific season for the Blues when they lifted UEFA Champions League. Since then he has become a fan favourite at Stamford Bridge.
But his contract with the Blues is coming to an end. And according to reports, although Chelsea wants to give him an extension, the new offer does not match the numbers which the Italian wants. As a result, he is currently finding a new club.
Now according to a report from Diario Sport, La Liga giants FC Barcelona want to secure the midfielder in the next transfer window. They see him as the replacement of club captain Sergio Busquets.
After graduating from La Masia, Sergio Busquets served Barcelona for over a decade. He has been an undisputed starter for Barcelona throughout his career. But now the Spaniard is past his prime.
His contract with Barcelona will expire at the end of the season. And it has been understood that Busquets does not want to continue at the club beyond that. Hence Barcelona are finding a replacement for the Spanish midfielder.
30-year-old Jorginho still has quite a few years left in his prime. He is the closest player who can replicate Busquets’ playstyle at this moment. So Barcelona formed an interest in him. Earlier they thought to bring him in the summer but with their latest demotion to Europa, Barcelona wants to sign the midfielder as early as January.
Meanwhile, defending Serie-A champions AC Milan are also interested in signing the Italian midfielder. Milan have got a decent start to their title defense. But they still will have to upgrade a few positions to successfully defend their title. Hence Rosonerri wants to sign the veteran.
So if Barcelona intends to secure the midfielder, they will have to move fast.
