Domestic cricket has produced nail-biting encounters over the years. This time too, it was no different. Players from the respective states gave absolutely everything in crunch situations. However, the best teams made great progress so far in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament.
Batsmen, bowlers, fielders and all-rounders tried their best to help the teams and ensured to live up to their reputation. The quarter-final 3 clash between Haryana and Baroda turned out to be one of the best knockout fixtures in the ongoing competition.
Both teams had equal chances to win the match with the momentum going one way or the other, till the climax. Haryana set up a target of 149 for Baroda. Himanshu Rana top-scored for Haryana with 49 off 40 balls with the help of 7 fours.
Shivam Chauhan also played his part as he chipped in with 35 off 29 balls. His included 3 fours and a six at a strike-rate of 120.69. Karthik Kakade was the pick of the bowlers for Baroda. The right-arm offbreak bowler accounted for 2 dismissals, giving away just 7 runs.
Atit Sheth and Babashafi Pathan settled for one wicket apiece. Baroda bowled did a fine job to restrict Haryana to a decent total. Although it isn’t a big target to chase, considering the slowish surface made the target look so tricky.
Vishnu Solanki hits 15 runs of last 3 balls
The quarterfinal encounter had all the drama till the end. Baroda were searching for quick runs in the final over of the game. Haryana was in complete command as they had to defend 18 runs off the last over.
Sumit Kumar was given the ball to keep the batsmen in check. The right-arm fast bowler tried his luck and mounted pressure on the batsmen. When the equation came down to 16 runs off the last 4 balls, everyone thought that the game was done.
The fast bowler came out on top in his first 3 deliveries as he conceded only 3 runs. When 15 runs were required off the last 3 balls, Vishnu Solanki was on strike. While his teammates lost all the hope, Vishnu pulled off a mission impossible in the last 3 balls.

Vishnu Solanki smacked the bowler for a six in the fourth delivery and after which, he hit a four in the 5th ball. With 5 runs required off the last delivery, there was no hope at all. However, the batsman unleashed his batting skills to the forefront by hitting a six off the last ball.
Solanki guided his team into the semifinals. It was Haryana’s game. They were very competitive and weren’t really far away from clinching the game. But, Baroda batsman Vishnu Solanki had other ideas in mind.
Baroda win by 8 wickets
Chasing 148, Baroda captain Kedar Devdhar provided a good start to the game despite losing Smit Patel early on for 21 runs. Kedar chipped in with 43 off 40 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes.
Vishnu Solanki who hit the winning six for Baroda was the pick of the batsmen. The 28-year-old batsman top-scored with 71 off just 46 balls including 4 fours and 5 sixes to his name at a strike-rate of 154.35.
