According to a report from journalist Graeme Bailey, Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are considering signing Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundigan the next summer.
Under Julian Naglesmann, the Bavarians have played great football throughout the season. They have qualified for the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League and are in the second position in the Bundesliga table.
Bayern board has made quite a few signings in the midfield area. The most recent one is Ryan Gravenberch. But they want to strengthen their team with more quality midfielders. Hence the Bavarians are looking at Ilkay Gundogan.
Gundogan became the captain of Manchester City after the exit of Fernandinho. The German midfielder has been one of the best players for the Citizens since his arrival at the club. His ability to play at various positions with ease makes him a huge asset.
The 32-year-old Gundigan is now nearing the end of his Manchester City contract. Although Gundogan has expressed his desire to stay at the Etihad, he is yet to be given a new deal. Hence many clubs are currently monitoring the situation.
La Liga giants Barcelona are one of the favourites to sign the midfielder the next summer. Barcelona are currently going through a transition phase. They want to make quality signings but due to their financial issues, the Catalan giants are mostly looking at free players.
Now another big club who have been linked with the Germans is Juventus. Similar to Barcelona, Juventus are also considering signing multiple free agents to bolster its squad. Hence they are interested in the midfielder.
Surprisingly Turkish club Galatasaray are also in the race for the German midfielder. So if Bayern Munich wants to sign him, they will have to move fast.
