Big Bash League 2020 Thursday fixture saw a mouth-opening save by Max Bryant. The 21-year-old Australian batsman did a remarkable job on the boundary line to deny Nick Larkin six.
Brisbane Heat won this fixture with the help of DLS against Melbourne Stars, by a thin margin of 4 runs(DLS). Bryant pulls this remarkable save on the second ball of the ninth over. Nick Larkin was on strike, playing some good sky-high shots. Larkin hit four on the first ball of the ninth over, bowled by Lewis Gregory.
Larkin went for another big shot, this time towards and over the mid-on, to deep mid-wicket. He and all spectators thought it was going for maximum. But Bryant had other intentions on the deep mid-wicket. He was an inch away parted by the boundary line, jumped high to catch the ball.
He did catch the ball but while in the air realized he is on the wrong side of the ropes, so he throws out the ball. This type of fielding always help in the end to win matches, this fielding from Bryant saved 4 runs for Brisbane Heat and they came short of 4 runs in the end.
Brisbane Heat lost the toss and had to bat first. Openers Max Bryant and Chris Lynn had a fantastic start for Brisbane. Lynn scored 48 runs from 23 balls with a strike rate over the 200 marks. English opener Joe Burns had a short and fierce display in the end with 22 runs from 11 balls.
The rain stopped the match during Brisbane’s inning around 8th and 10th over. It was resumed shortly with 17 overs but then after 2 balls, it was raining again. After that, it was limited to 14 overs and another break due to rain finally made it to 10 overs.
DLS rule which is still not satisfactory to all fans played a big role in the end. 22 runs in the last over crossed the scoreline to 100 and in the end, it was 115/3 for the Heat.
It was a hard but possible target for the Stars but due to DLS interference target was 129 runs in 10 overs. Melbourne opener Marcus Stoinis played a crucial 34 runs inning to give a great start to the Stars. West Indies skipper Nicholas Pooran played a very short quicky of 16 runs in just 5 balls.
In the end, while chasing the target, Nick Larkin played a great inning with a strike rate of 219. Larkin scored 35 runs in just 16 balls with the help of 2 huge sixes and 4 boundaries. But his efforts were not enough for Melbourne, who scored 111/5 in 10 overs.
