In fact, both teams had a go at each other from the starting to ending moments. However, Melbourne Renegades had the last laugh in the battle. They won the game by 2 runs as they pulled off the ropes from the jaws of the defeat.
It was the closest-ever encounter in this season’s Big Bash League. Melbourne Renegades batted first and scored 153 for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Mackenzie Harvey was the pick of the batsmen for the Renegades.
He chipped in with 56 off 46 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes. Sam Harper looked good for his 33 off 28 balls including 2 fours and a six. On the other hand, Adelaide Strikers’ captain Peter Siddle accounted for 3 dismissals.
George Garton and Worrall took 2 wickets each. In reply, the Strikers managed to score 151/8 in 20 overs and fell short of the target by 2 runs. Harry Nielsen top-scored with 30 off 30 balls including a solitary boundary.
