BBL 2021-22: In what comes as a big blow to Sydney Sixers, Josh Philippe has tested positive for the coronavirus pandemic. The wicket-keeper-batsman has undergone quarantine and has been isolated from his teammates.
Earlier, his teammates namely Jack Edwards and Mickey Edwards tested positive for COVID-19 last week. Meanwhile, Josh Philippe will have to make sure that he completes a seven-day mandatory quarantine spell.
Sydney Sixers played the Challenger against Adelaide Strikers without the services of Josh Philippe. The Sixers got the better of Strikers by 4 wickets and qualified for the finals.
Since Philippe will need to isolate himself from the rest of the teammates for a week, he will not be available to play in the finals. Sydney Sixers will lock horns with Perth Scorchers in the BBL 2021-22 final.
The all-important clash will kick off on January 28 at Docklands Stadium, Melbourne. Former Syndey Thunder wicketkeeper Jay Lenton replaced Josh Philippe in the squad as he played against Adelaide Strikers in the Challenger.

Josh Philippe dictated terms with the bat as he contributed as many as 429 runs in 15 games at a batting average of 33. Moreover, he chipped in with as many as four half-centuries to his name this season.
Notably, he is at 7th place in the leading run-scorers of the 11th edition of the Big Bash League. Sydney Sixers franchise also came up with an official statement after they lost three players’ services in a week’s time.

In reply, Sydney Sixers chased down the target in the last ball of the final over. When the required 2 off the last ball, Hayden Kerr scored a boundary and guided his team to the final. Hayden Kerr top-scored with 98 off 58 balls including 10 fours and 2 sixes. Sixers won the game by 4 wickets and booked their spot in the finals.
