So far 13 seasons of the Indian Premier League have been done and dusted. Mumbai Indians are the most successful franchise in the tournament’s history as they won as many as 5 major honors.
Chennai Super Kings are the second-most successful team in the tournament as they won as many as 3 trophies to their name. On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders won 2 honors in their journey.
Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Deccan Chargers (now-defunct IPL franchise) won a title each. Chennai Super Kings are the only team to reach 8 IPL finals in 10 seasons.
Earlier, there were reports that BCCI is keen to add two more IPL franchises in the next season. However, in the Annual General Meeting, they confirmed that they are willing to add two teams in IPL 2022.

BCCI official comes up with interesting details
Meanwhile, a senior BCCI official on the conditions of anonymity dropped a major hint at the base price for new teams in IPL 2022. Since two more franchises will be added in the 15th edition of the IPL, we will see major changes happening in that season.
The competition will be tougher than ever before and more matches will be played in the tournament. The length of the tourney is also going to be increased.
IPL is considered a lucrative tournament in the world. India’s richest cricket body earns maximum revenue every year during the IPL period. Earlier, Star India acquired the IPL broadcast rights for a colossal sum of Rs 16347.5 crores.
It is said that India’s governing body earned Rs 4000 crore by hosting the thirteenth edition of the IPL in the United Arab Emirates amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis.
Recently, it is being reported that BCCI is planning to add 2 news teams from the 15th edition of the IPL onwards. While the BCCI was already planning the same for the upcoming edition of the IPL, lack of time was the main reason why the BCCI pushed it to the 2022 season.
Base price for IPL teams
Meanwhile, it has been reported that the tenders will be released by April 2021. A top BCCI official added that the base price of the new IPL teams will be nothing less than Rs 1500 Crores.
