The midfielder has been a stunning form and has spoken on his side’s strength under Guardiola.
If there is a player who deserves to win the PFA Player of the year award besides Raheem Sterling and Virgil Van Djik then it has to be Manchester City’s Bernando Silva. The Portuguese has been having an excellent season and is also in the contention of PFA Player of the season award. Bernando Silva has been one of the top players for Guardiola this season and has easily filled the attacking void created by Kevin De Bruyne’s constant injury this season. Silva would be hoping that City win all the quadruple. In an interview Bernando Silva makes surprising claim about Lionel Messi Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester City.
Bernardo Silva believes Manchester City’s lack of a main attacking focal point makes them a better team. Pep Guardiola’s side are still fighting on all fronts in their pursuit of an historic Quadruple this season, with their free-flowing attack a key factor in their success. Bernardo is one of a number of star players in the current City squad and he believes this strength in depth greatly benefits their approach. Even when City are missing a key player through injury they have someone else capable of replacing them in the starting line up, and Portugal international Bernardo believes the lack of a reliance on a talent like Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi is a compliment. “The captains, mainly (Vincent) Kompany, has obviously a big impact within the group, Fernandinho, who talks a lot, even in the hardest moments, David Silva and Aguero , older players, all strong names, especially in the difficult times of the season,” he told GQ Portugal.
Bernardo Silva further added, “I believe, though, that the strength of our team is not having a player like Cristiano or Messi, that by themselves make a difference. Every player has their place on the team and all players feel equally important. I think that is the main strength of our team. I mean that we don’t have a Messi or Cristiano, that clearly is above everyone else, who you pass the ball to and they score. When you have someone like Cristiano, you know sometimes he wins games by himself, we don’t have that in Man City.”
Silva would be hoping to help his side win the second leg of Champions League quarter final against Tottenham Hotspurs. The Portuguese player missed the 1-0 due to a small injury and would be hoping to be included in the team next week as City look to overturn the 1-0 deficit next week.
It’s true that Manchester City don’t have an attacker like Messi or Ronaldo but they themselves have struggled under the absence of Fernandinho and Aguero.
