Chennai Super Kings are one of the successful teams in the history of the Indian Premier League. They have a huge fan-following across the world, more than any other franchise.
MS Dhoni is the captain of Chennai Super Kings. Under his captaincy, the yellow army won as many as four titles, just one less than Mumbai Indians who won five titles.
CSK are also the consistent team in the IPL. They are known for their clinical performances, more often than not. As a result, they are certain to qualify for the playoffs.
However, in the last season, they failed to qualify for the playoffs. They ended up as the ninth place. CSK will be looking forward to doing well in the next season.
Meanwhile, the four-time IPL champions are pretty good at signing top players at the auction. At times, some players didn’t even make the cut in the playing XI despite signing for CSK.
Now, in this article we will take a look at the list of eleven players signed by CSK but didn’t play a single game for the franchise.
Chennai Super Kings signed the services of C Hari Nishaanth and Cheteshwar Pujara. Hari Nishaanth is a talented opener for Tamil Nadu cricket team.
On the other hand, Cheteshwar Pujara is a Test specialist batsman for India. However, the duo didn’t represent CSK even in a single game in the IPL.
The four-time IPL champions signed Hemang Badani and Kuthethurshri Vasudevadas. Nonetheless, the duo didn’t play for CSK during their contracts.
Hemang Badani who represented India in international cricket was in CSK’s squad in 2010. On the other hand, Kuthethurshri Vasudevadas played domestic cricket for Tamil Nadu. He was in CSK’s squad in 2011.
CSK signed three productive all-rounders namely Thisara Perera, Irfan Pathan and Krishnappa Gowtham. Unfortunately, none of the aforementioned names made it to the starting XI for the franchise.
CSK is known for its reputation to sign top bowlers. They signed the likes of Matt Henry, Andrew Tye, K Bhagath Varma and R Sai Kishore. Sadly, none of the names made the cut in the playing XI for CSK.
