Premier League heavyweights Liverpool and Chelsea were linked with some of the biggest and costliest names of World football in recent months and here is the update on English outfits’ top targets.

As always, premier league heavyweights Liverpool and Chelsea continued to link with some of the upmarket players throughout the summer’s transfer window. Perhaps, Italian outfit Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski and Kalidou Koulibaly certainly were two of them.

Napoli’s Senegalese man at the back Kalidou Koulibaly was tipped to partner Van Dijk at Liverpool as the previous reports by TalkSport insisted the Anfield club was in a battle with local rivals Chelsea and Arsenal to acquire the signature of the defender. The 26-year-old center-half has been one of Serie A’s most outstanding centre-backs for recent years and he has long been linked with a move to England.

Moreover, another Napoli man Piotr Zielinski was also heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as the midfielder attracted the London club by strong showings in Seria A.

But latest report by Calciomercato claims Napoli has no interest two offload their key men as the Italian side set to offer new lucrative deals to both Piotr Zielinski and Kalidou Coulibaly.

Moreover, the reports in Italy acknowledges Napoli is set to insert a €200m release clause in the contracts of both players in order to ward off interest from Premier League sides, Chelsea and Liverpool.

Despite losing their manager Maurizio Saari and one of their star players, Jorginho to Chelsea, Napoli has made a sizzling start to the 2018-19 Serie A campaign under Carlo Ancelotti.

Under the management of former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid boss, Italian side has beaten top-four challengers Lazio and AC Milan in the opening two fixtures.

Author’s Take:

Both, Piotr Zielinski and Kalidou have been outstanding for Napoli for recent years and were the main reasons in their runner-up finish in Seria A last term. If they want to continue to battle with Juventus for the Serie A title they have to keep as many of their top players as they can. Zielinski and Koulibaly have emerged as promising talents and both extending their stay with Napoli is certainly not a good news for Liverpool and Chelsea.
