Moussa Dembele is an important transfer target for United, but Premier League may make it difficult for them
Manchester United are trying to secure the signing of a striker for the upcoming season. While Odion Ighalo’s loan move might be made permanent, they still want another striker to strengthen the squad. Their primary target for the job was Olympique Lyon’s Moussa Dembele. The 23-years-old French striker is valued at €50 million by Lyon. However, the Red Devils are ready to spend the amount for Dembele.

There is one problem, however. United’s bid for Dembele can be blocked by their Premier League rival Chelsea. Lyon has revealed that the Blues have the first refusal right for the player. The London club are also showing interest in Dembele alongside United. They are also willing to hijack United’s bid for Jude Bellingham.
At Chelsea, Tammy Abraham has set the whole Stamford Bridge on fire with his performance. Due to the transfer ban at the beginning of the season, Frank Lampard had to rely on the existing young talent within the club. It would not be wrong to say that Tammy has surpassed all expectations. He is surely going to be a starter until something dramatic happens.

However, there are not many options Lampard can choose from in attack. Although Olivier Giroud stepped up his game just before the suspension of football, he is surely not going to stay back for another season. Michy Batshuyai has failed to impress in Tammy’s absence. Thus, Dembele is a viable target for Chelsea.
At United, Marcus Rashford is the undisputed starter. However, although Anthony Martial had been good, he is highly inconsistent. Mason Greenwood is one for the future, but the young Englishman is unlikely to be a regular striker anytime soon. Thus, the Red Devils are also desperate to sign a striker

Dembele’s stats and the price tag makes him the most viable option.
