Bellingham at a glance
Looking at his numbers, they might find it hard to believe that Bellingham is just 16-years-old and he is yet to sign a professional contract.
Bellingham primarily plays as an attacking midfielder. However, he has been deployed in a variety of positions across the park. He has played as a central midfielder, a defensive midfielder, on the wings, and even as a centre forward in one match. It is this versatility he brings to the game that is very important in the modern game.
Bellingham has scored four goals and assisted two. His strengths lie in defensive contribution, through balls, interceptions, and tackling and as a gifted midfielder, he likes to cross and tackle.
With a pass accuracy of 74.9% and a tackle rate of 2.3 per game, Bellingham will be a valuable addition to the Dortmund side.
What does the future hold?
Borussia Dortmund have once again emerged as a contender for the Bundesliga title after facing a few tumultuous years in between. Thus, it is understandable that they would want to strengthen their squad.
In recent times, the Bundesliga has emerged as an unexpected destination for young English talent. Dortmund is one of the key players in nurturing the English youth in Germany. One of their very best had been Jadon Sancho.
The English international has developed into a world-class player in his three-years spell in Dortmund. And he would return to the Premier League in the summer.
Bellingham is clearly a replacement of Sancho. And he has all the ability to emulate his compatriot’s feats.
