BPL 2022: Cricketers are highly-trained professionals. They are supposed to behave properly both on and off the field and that’s the sign of a true professional cricketer. However, there are few of them who often cross their limits.
Recently, Afghanistan international Mohammad Shahzad crossed his limits on the ground. Guess what? He was spotted smoking on the ground after the BPL match. Pictures of the same went viral on the internet.
Meanwhile, a lot of fans took to social media to slam the cricketer for breaching the norms. The cricketer got reprimanded as the pictures spread like wildfire on social media.
In fact, there are reports that Minister Group Dhaka coach Mizanur Rahman warned Shahzad of his behaviour while senior cricketer Tamim Iqbal asked him to enter the dressing room.
Afghanistan cricketer has been reprimanded by match officials after he violated the norms at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Friday. The incident happened after the BPL game between Comilla Victorians and Minister Group Dhaka was abandoned owing to rain.
Shahzad’s action was found to be in violation of Article 2.20 of the BCB code of conduct. This relates to “conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game”. As a result, a demerit point was included in his disciplinary record.
BPL 2022: Shahzad spotted smoking on the ground, gets reprimanded
The Afghan was among the few cricketers who were on the ground waiting for the game to resume on Friday as the rain played spoilsport during the game. Meanwhile, the wicketkeeper-batsman Shahzad was caught puffing as the pictures went viral.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) came up with a recent press release. Shahzad also confessed the offence and admitted the sanction. The wicketkeeper-batter has played 7 games for Dhaka in the ongoing edition of the BPL.
He scored just one fifty to his name and came under fire for his string of low scores in other games. So far, he scored 142 runs to his name this season. Currently, Dhaka had an average performance.
Dhaka are currently placed third in the standings with 3 wins and 3 defeats. They still have a long way to go get back into the business. On the other hand, Comilla Victorians are on top of the points table with 4 wins in 6 games.
