Brazil News: Brazil has already qualified for the World Cup
While Brazil has arrived in Qatar, Chile’s ambitions are in jeopardy. They must overcome Uruguay in their final qualifier and hope for favourable results elsewhere to qualify for an inter-confederation play-off.
Martinelli is presently looking for a place on Brazil’s World Cup squad. He was picked up for the World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Bolivia later this month because of his excellent play at Arsenal, where he has scored five Premier League goals this season.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has dubbed the winger as “a talent of the century,” and he recently put in an amazing display against the Reds, causing Trent Alexander-Arnold major problems and winning plaudits from Gary Neville.
On commentary, the Manchester United legend compared Martinelli to Arsenal’s legendary French winger Robert Pires, who won two Premier League titles at Highbury. “He’s toasting Alexander-Arnold,” Neville remarked. “Martinelli has produced a masterpiece. He has a Pires-like quality to him. That was a Pires-like run.”
What did Arteta say?
“Gabi has shown good signs of improvement throughout the season, Mikel Arteta remarked in response to Martinelli’s call-up. Certainly, his ability to score goals and pose a threat in the last third, and I believe his overall contribution to his game has been excellent.
What did Jorginho say and is Martinelli eligible to play for Italy?
Through his father, Martinelli is also eligible to play for European champions Italy. The youngster was born in Guarulhos, a city in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo.
Martinelli can still choose Italy if he doesn’t make three appearances until his 21st birthday. Jorginho, a Brazilian-born Italy international, has tried to encourage Martinelli to do so.
“No one spoke to me, no,” Martinelli told Globo Esporte. “Only Jorginho once said to me, ‘I hope to see you in March,’ or something along those lines, but no one [official] spoke to me, no.”
