Arsenal have had their share of bad luck in terms of injuries. Just when they seemed to be getting a reprieve a key player has suffered a devastating injury
Arsenal won the latest London derby with a tireless display against Chelsea. A win for the Blues would have effectively ended the Gunners’ hopes for a top 4 place this season. As things stand, both Arsenal and Manchester United are 3 points behind Chelsea, who currently occupy the 4th spot. Even the 3rd Spurs are in the conversation, being just 1 point above the Blues but also having a game in hand.
Lacazette’s thunderstrike and a fortunate goal capped off a win for the Gunners but all was not good on the night for Unai Emery. Right-back Hector Bellerin suffered a serious injury which could potentially bring an early end to his season. The Spaniard recently returned from a calf strain after missing an entire Christmas period. However, the latest injury appeared to be much more severe. Here’s what happened:

That looks a bad injury for Bellerin.
It looks a s though he got his boot stuck in the ground and his knee dislocated pic.twitter.com/vk99wqFwah— Steve Long (@stevelong193) January 19, 2019

The injury happened in the 70th minute of the game as Emery’s men were in a comfortable position in the game. As can be seen in the footage, Bellerin was after the ball when his boot got stuck in the grass. An immediate contortion of the knee indicated that something had tweaked.
Author’s Take
As of this article’s writing, Arsenal’s medical staff are yet to put out an official word regarding the Spaniard’s injury but expect a lengthy layoff. As for manager Emery, he’ll have to use either Ainsley-Maitland Niles or Stephan Lichsteiner as the right-back as his issues continue to pile up.
