Though Lyon sensationally ended transfer saga of their captain Nabil Fekir with Liverpool it looks like the deal could be revived after a hint regarding future of their skipper dropped by their president Jean-Michael Aulas.
Liverpool was on the brink to sign the French ace Nabil Fekir last month but sensational verdict by Lyon upon their star’s rumours saw the saga to take a bitter end in favour of Reds. But perhaps the prolonged tale may take a fresh twist again and it looks like the deal could be resurrected after a big hint dropped by Lyon’s President Jean-Michael Aulas.
However, concerns were triggered after Nabil Fekir’s knee issue spotted by Reds after medical and as a consequence of this Liverpool pulled out of the deal. But perhaps Nabil Fekir denied the news about his injury and proclaimed his knee is ‘super good’.
Speaking to RT France, the president unearthed he had a given ‘green light’ to Fekir’s departure and insisted,
“He was supposed to go to Liverpool at a certain point, I gave a green light, [but] things did not happen because they lasted too long.”
“Nabil is an exceptional player, he is on the map. the efficiency, to keep the ball, absolutely unique.”
“The failure with Liverpool has aroused the interest of other clubs. Everything is possible. My goal is to make him stay. I have always listened as a priority, the players are my sons. I hope he will stay, but if he absolutely wants to leave, we will try to find him the biggest club.”
But Aulas also claimed Real Madrid, among the other European elites, are interested to capture their talisman. He added,
“Yeah, listen, at that stage, it was foreseen he would go to Liverpool, I had given it the green light to go ahead, but it just took too long, things were just too drawn out.”
“He is an exceptional player, he keeps the ball in little space and has an incredible talent. The fact that things didn’t conclude with Liverpool and it didn’t happen in that timeframe has peaked the interest of a lot of other clubs – Real Madrid, but not just Real Madrid and their new trainer.”
“There is a lot of interest from other camps, so everything is possible.”
Despite interest from European Champions Real Madrid, The Mirror states ‘The Frenchman still wants to move to Reds’. However, the deal could get materialized after the conclusion of World Cup.
The tale looks like will follow the path of Van Dijk’s transfer saga and is resulting into unsettlement in Liverpool’s fan base. Certainly, Fekir has the potential to transfer Reds’ midfield into an unstoppable force and their twelfth man is desperate to see him in the red outfit.
