Real Madrid, Chelsea and Juventus are all expected to tussle in the summer transfer window as they fight for a left-back, who is a mutual target for all three of them. Have a look to know more about it.

Real Madrid left-back Marcelo has been among the world’s best left backs of recent years. However, the Brazil international has stayed put in Spain’s capital. But things could be about to change with Italian champions Juventus having shown interest in the 30-year-old. They are keen on bringing him to Italy and partner with Cristiano Ronaldo, with whom he shares a brother-like bond.

This is mainly because of the interest that the English giants in Manchester United and Chelsea have shown towards Alex Sandro. The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to London in recent months and the Blues were keen on landing him in January. But Juventus held onto him and Chelsea eventually settled for Emerson Palmieri.

The interest from England has not yet disappeared and Sandro, who has a contract with Juventus only until June 2020 is unwilling to sign a new deal as yet. As an alternative, Massimiliano Allegri is also monitoring Barcelona’s Jordi Alba. The former Valencia left-back has a deal with the Catalans until 2020 and similarly to Alex Sandro he is not yet committing his future to the Spanish giants.

Author’s Take

In whatever way things seem to be going, Real Madrid must not let Marcelo go. In addition, Chelsea already has Marcos Alonso, who is probably the best left back in the Premier League. Hence, keeping Sandro or Alonso on the bench is a daft move. Moreover, Manchester United also could be out of the fray after Luke Shaw has lately extended his contract till 2023. Personally, I think this is just another useless rumour and there won’t be any repercussions.
