This Brazilian Superstar is Finally On his way to Real Madrid

European Giants Real Madrid is weighing up a move for Porto starlet Alex Telles, and are looking forward to taking the Brazilian to Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid lost to Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup final as the Los Blancos conceded four goals. While the team performed decently upfront, the defending was nowhere near Real Madrid standards. The defeat has addressed Real Madrid’s defensive frailties and Atletico exposed it completely.

The club feels, the coach Julen Lopetegui feels Real Madrid want to a sign a Brazilian left-back as a back up for Marcelo. According to Don Balon, Porto’s Brazilian left-back Alex Telles has been among Real Madrid’s target for a while. The 25-year-old has been performing exceptionally well for Porto in the Portuguese top tier league and has played a crucial role in club’s recent success.

Telles’ style of plays suits Real Madrid well as he likes to go forward and contribute to the attack of the team. This goes exactly well with the way Real Madrid want their full-backs to do. Marcelo is also a similar type of player, known for his involvement in the attacking buildup of Real Madrid.

Telles impressed one and all with his dazzling performance for Porto last year. The 25-year-old Brazilian made 30 league appearances for Porto last season and bagged 3 goals while assisting another 13. And too, playing as a left-back! Incredible! Real Madrid have eyed the right man!

With Marcelo, who is their primary choice at left-back, 30-years-old, it is time Real Madrid think about their future. A deviation from Real Madrid’s big-players signing policy was evident this summer as they have not yet signed any big name players this summer, minus the arrival of Thibaut Courtois which actually was an icing on the cake. At the same time, Julen Lopetegui subbing Marcelo early in Real Madrid’s clash against Girona should also be taken into consideration.

Author’s Take:

Telles is a highly talented defender known for aggressive playing. He will only improve with time and there is no doubt he would be a big asset to the Real Madrid family if the Los Blancos sign him from Porto.
