Tottenham Hotspur was stunned by Nottingham Forest, as they grabbed a 2-0 win in last night’s Carabao Cup fixture. Conte’s man was not able to score a single goal against 10-man Nottingham Forest.
Forest was worthy of this victory as they dominated Tottenham Hotspur’s lazy and poor defense. Renan Lodi and Jesse Lingard scored for the first time for their new club which sealed a 2-0 victory in the third round win.
Harry Kane and Ivan Perisic led the Tottenham attack but were unable to make a breakthrough. But this was Forest’s show that helped to go through the next round of the Cup. An error almost gave away a goal to Nottingham Forest. But Foster was brilliant in his debut for Tottenham Hotspur.
As Gareth Southgate names England’s World Cup squad on Thursday, Harry Kane’s recent form is a worry for England supporters. Kane has not scored a single goal in the last few games. Whenever Kane struggle, Tottenham does as well.
Match Day Activity

Tottenham was not clinical enough and they lacked quality in the final third. Conte’s side was lacking in creativity as well. Kane barely touched the ball and was subbed off just hitting before 1 hour of the game. Both Kulusevski and Richarlison came from the bench but were able to make an impact in the game.
Shockingly, Tottenham even struggled after Nottingham’s Orel Mangala saw a red card when just 15 minutes left of the game. But this was was the best performance of Lingard under Nottingham’s jersey.
Former Nottingham man, Djed Spence played for the final 30 minutes of the game. He provided a real threat with his direct run and also maintained possession very well.
But Yves Bissouma and Davidson Sanchez were very disappointing, as both’s errors were behind Nottingham’s two goals.
Spurs maintained 60% of the possession but had lesser shots than Nottingham. Tottenham Hotspur just managed 2 shots on target in the whole game. In contrast, Nottingham had 8 shots on target out of 14 shots.
Conte on Tottenham Hotspur’s Lack of Form

During the post-match interview, Conte blamed tiredness for lack of form in their recent result. The manager said: “With Harry, until this morning we waited to see if he could start or not, But in this situation, he was the only striker for us. For this reason, I can only say thanks for the availability they show me.” Conte has pointed out that Kane’s lack of form is due to “a problem of tiredness”.
Nottingham manager Steve Cooper is very happy with his team’s display. The manager is especially very delighted with Lingard’s performance.
He said: “I thought he was excellent. He scored one with his head and could have scored another with his head. I thought his positional play was good. He took up the spaces and found the spaces really well.”
