The Portuguese midfielder finally looks set to put pen to paper on a deal to join the Red Devils after months of speculation over his future

After months of speculation, Manchester United finally announced the signing of Sporting Lisbon Midfielder, Bruno Fernandes for a reported 55 million Euros + bonuses. The deal is now only injected to Medical and agreement of personal terms. Fernandes will put pen-to-paper and sign a 4 and a half year deal with the Red Devils. United could pay as much as 67.8Million Euros for the Portuguese if all the clauses of the deal are met. United announced on Wednesday afternoon that they had agreed on a fee with Sporting for the signing of Fernandes.

The signing is good news for United fans, who had been becoming frustrated with the lack of activity in the transfer window up until now, and Fernandes will add a much-needed touch of class to their midfield. A statement released by Sporting Lisbon reveals the structure and clauses of the deal.

Structure of the contract

The Maximum that United could pay in bonuses to Sporting could round up to almost 21 million Euros!!

  1. 4.2 Million Euros in appearance-related bonuses
  2.  £4.2m if United qualify for the Champions League
  3. £12.6m for ‘personal prizes’- for example if Fernandes were ever to win the Ballon d’Or.
  4. £4.6m to pay in agents’ fees

All this could male the deal go as much as 70 million Euros!!!

What makes Bruno worth the money?

Bruno Fernandes is an engine on the field. He could potentially be one of the most creative players in Europe currently. While he has shown only in Premier Liga, a not so competitive league. He has the skills to compete and excel in the Premier League. The Portuguese has struck 31 goals and assisted 15 times last season for Sporting. So far he has been involved in 115 goals in 137 appearances for Lisbon. A stat that was enough to turn the world’s attention towards him.
