The Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the Indian Premier League, having won five championships. They are a franchise cricket team headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The squad was established in 2008, and Reliance Industries, the largest conglomerate in India, owns 100% of its 100% subsidiary IndiaWin Sports. The team has played its home games at Mumbai’s 33,108-seat Wankhede Stadium ever since it was founded.
The Indian Premier League, a Twenty20 league that will begin play in 2008, was established by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in September 2007.
The BCCI revealed the proprietors of eight city-based franchises in January 2008. The Mumbai franchise was the most expensive team to be sold in the league when it was sold to Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) for $111.9 million. Mukesh Ambani‘s RIL purchased the franchise rights for a ten-year period.

We shall rock the globe is the team’s motto, which is translated as “Duniya Hila Denge Hum.” This credo served as the foundation for the inaugural song of the Mumbai Indians, for which the Bollywood star Hrithik Roshan was recruited for a promotional video campaign.
Prior to Sachin Tendulkar’s suggestion that the name of the team be kept as Mumbai Indians, the team’s official logo was to be the Sudarshan Chakra (or Razor).

Anil Kumble was hired as the chief mentor for the 2013 IPL after leaving a comparable job with Royal Challengers Bangalore. Ricky Ponting finally lost his spot in the starting lineup due to a decline in his batting performance, and Rohit Sharma took over as captain. The team won the 2013 IPL with the help of seasoned coaches like Anil Kumble, Jonty Rhodes, and Sachin Tendulkar. Ricky Ponting resigned as captain of the team and announced his retirement from all forms of cricket after the Rajasthan Royals won the following game by a score of 83 runs after Mumbai was bowled out for just 92. Rohit Sharma was appointed captain because of his strong batting performance. The Mumbai Indians significantly improved and won their first IPL championship when he served as captain.
Mumbai Indians defeated Chennai Super Kings by 41 runs to win their second IPL championship in 2015. They began the season with four IPL losses, primarily because of their bowling. Lasith Malinga received excellent help up front thanks to the addition of Mitchell McClenaghan, another strike bowler, to the lineup.
Mumbai Indians, who won 10 out of 14 games, finished first in the IPL 2017 points standings. After defeating Rising Pune Supergiant in a thrilling finale, they went on to win the title. They won their third IPL championship, making them the most successful team in IPL history.

Mumbai Indians won the IPL championship for a record-tying fourth time after defeating Chennai Super Kings by one run. Mumbai Indians were the first team in IPL history to win four trophies, making them the most successful squad overall.
Due to the increasing COVID-19 instances in India in 2020, the matches were played in the United Arab Emirates. Mumbai Indians, despite having a quality roster, were underappreciated because of their performance in the UAE and superstition that they only won championships in odd-numbered years. However, Mumbai Indians ended all of those negotiations, went on to have the best season of any team, and won their fifth championship.
