The Champions League round-of-16 draw took place on Monday, and it has now been confirmed who will face who in the next stage of the European competition.
Spanish behemoths Real Madrid will face Premier League side Liverpool in the Champions League round-of-16. It is a repeat of the last season’s Champions League final, where Real Madrid emerged as the winners and Liverpool became the runners-up.
Real Madrid got the better of Liverpool in the Champions League 22/23 final, with Vinicius Jr’s goal in the second half propelling the La Liga outfit to European glory. Liverpool will be aiming to take revenge on Carlo Ancelotti’s men and knock them out of the competition when the two sides meet in the round of 16.
In another blockbuster clash, German giants Bayern Munich and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain will square off in the round of 16. PSG’s second-place finish in Group H meant they would face a group winner in the round of 16, and they have been drawn against Bayern. The German outfit topped Group C, which also had Inter Milan, FC Barcelona, and Viktoria Plzen.
Chelsea to meet Borussia Dortmund, Man City to take on RB Leipzig in Champions League round-of-16
Meanwhile, Chelsea, who finished as Group E winners, will face Borussia Dortmund, who progressed as the second-placed side in Group H, in the next stage of the competition.
Manchester City, who are one of the favourites to win the Champions League title this season, have been drawn against RB Leipzig. The defending Premier League champions earned their place in their round-of-16 as Group G winners, while RB Leipzig finished just one point behind Group H winners Real Madrid.
Tottenham Hotspur, meanwhile, will lock horns with Serie A outfit AC Milan, who sealed their place in the round of 16 after finishing second in Group E.
Group A winners Porto will come up against Italian heavyweights Inter Milan, who qualified for the round of 16 after a second-place finish in Group C.
Club Brugge will take on Group H winners Benfica, while Group A winners will meet Eintracht Frankfurt in the round of 16.
