As part of significant restructuring, Chelsea bid farewell to the quitent.
Chelsea are facing quite a difficult time since they are banned from signing any new player for the next two transfer window by Court of Arbitration for Sports. The Blues have found guilty breaching FIFA rules around the transfers of minors.
The Blues have made an appeal to CAS but are still expected to serve a ban till the next season. Because they didn’t ask the Court to seize the decision while their case is being considered.
Amid such difficult time, Chelsea confirmed the departure of their five valuable asset. As part of overhauling the squad for new challenging season.
Chelsea have bid farewell Eden Hazard and Ola Aina earlier in the summer and now the departure of the quintet- Gary Cahill, Rob Green, Gonzalo Higuain, Eduardo and Kyle Scott followed them having their respective contract expired with the club.
The biggest departure out of the five can be attributed to Gary Cahill who is leaving after making almost 300 appearances for the club.
The former England defender joins Chelsea seven and a half years ago and leaves after winning eight major trophies during his time at Stamford Bridge including the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League, the FA Cup, and the League Cup.
After taking over from John Terry he also served as the captain of Stamford Bridge outfit during the last two years.
Two of the reserve goalkeepers Robert Green and Eduardo also leave after a short spell with the club. Where Green joined the club last year itself and Eduardo has been on a contract at Stamford Bridge for the past two years.
Young midfielder Kyle Scott is another one to leave the club. The USA youth international joined Chelsea from Southampton U-10 and started playing for the youth teams. He made his senior debut for the club in the FA Cup against Hull city which Chelsea won by 4-0.
Gonzalo Higuain is also returning to his parent club Juventus after a short Loan spell at Chelsea. He will again meet the ex Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri who insisted in bringing him from Italian giants cutting short his loan at AC Milan.
During such difficult time, Chelsea didn’t renew the expired contract of the quintet and officially announced their departure. This could only get compensate if Chelsea can have players on loan.
