Jean Michael Seri has attracted interest from the Blues with the club making contact with the Ivorian
A summer of rebuilding stares Chelsea right in the face. Several important personnel’s futures are yet to be resolved including the manager himself. The squad is in need of some serious surgery with the only two undoubted superstars of the team looking for ways out. There have been in the management too, Chelsea is still without a technical director – six months on from Micheal Emenalo’s departure. Without a proper direction for the club, Chelsea could go on a serious slide.
However, one man that can stop that is the owner Roman Abramovich himself. The Russian’s money can bring the Blues out of this precarious situation. Chelsea has been linked with several players throughout the season including some high profile names like Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio. However, the latest name added to that list is that of Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.
Another European giant’s name added to the list of Seri’s admirers
The 26-year-old’s all-around capabilities have attracted several from all of Europe. Manchester clubs, Liverpool and Arsenal have been keeping tabs on the Ivorian. Meanwhile, his move to Barca fell through at the last moment in the summer.
L’Equipe is reporting that Chelsea has contacted the player’s representatives over a potential summer move. The interest from top European clubs implies that he will be leaving Nice sooner rather than later. Consequently, he has a €40 million unofficial buyout clause agreement with the club.
Chelsea’s midfield ranks look to be in need of some serious strengthening and signing Seri will be a step in the right direction. Their only bonafide starter in the midfielder is N’Golo Kante and an injury to him throws the team strategy in shambles. If the Blues are able to secure his signing, fending off the other clubs in his pursuit, it’ll be seen as a mini-coup. With Bakayoko yet to fulfil his potential, Fabregas getting slower by the day and Drinkwater being not good enough, Seri would be a welcome addition to Chelsea’s midfield.
