Chelsea defender future depends on Thiago Silva extension at Chelsea

Chelsea restored lost pride with imperious performances under their new manager Thomas Tuchel. The Blues have collected as many as 10 points from 12 games, which is quite a record for a new manager in the toughest competition.

Tuchel’s first game as Chelsea manager didn’t really start with a bang. The Blues played out a draw versus Wolves as the match ended in 0-0 at home. However, they managed to get the better of Burnley at Stamford Bridge. They scored 2 goals to seal the deal.

Then, the Blues traveled to White Hart Lane to lock horns with Tottenham Hotspur. Chelsea dominated the game with sharp passes. Meanwhile, Spurs defender Eric Dier lost his mind while clipping Timo Werner’s ankles.

As a result, the referee awarded the Blues a penalty in the 24th minute of the first half. As usual, the Brazilian international Jorghino converted the penalty by successfully scoring a goal. Chelsea won the game by 1-0 in an away fixture.

Meanwhile, Chelsea forward Timo Werner also found some good form. He provided two crucial assists in the game against the Blades. Mason Mount and Jorghino scored a goal in the 43rd and 58th minutes respectively.

Earlier, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger netted an own goal for the opposition in the 55th minute. In the end, Chelsea came out on top by beating Sheffield United by 2-1. So far, so good for Thomas Tuchel as his side conceded only one goal so far under him.

Chelsea is sitting fifth in the EPL points table with as many as 39 points. The Blues won 11 games, lost 6 games, and drew as many as games. They are just a point away from the fourth spot. Also, they are still part of other important cup competitions like UEFA, FA Cup.

The future of Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen reportedly remains uncertain whether or not Thiago Silva stays here for the next season. However, Chelsea team management are pretty confident of keeping the Brazilian international will stay here for another season.

The main reason is that the former PSG man carved out a niche for himself as a pillar of Chelsea’s defence. The Blues are reportedly hopeful that the experienced defender will lead the defensive unit from the vanguard for the 2021-22 season.

On the contrary, defender Christensen didn’t get many chances to play for Chelsea this season. However, he earned praises for his impressive display against the Blades. He stepped on the turf as a replacement for the injured Silva in the recent encounter. Meanwhile, a report from Football London claims that the Blues could face an issue over the defender’s future and Thiago’s possible extension.

It has been learned that Andreas Christensen is set to leave in case if his Brazilian teammate stays at the club. The defender’s contract comes to a close in another 18 months. The report goes on to add saying that they could look for a chance to sell him instead of letting him run away for free in the next season.
