Chelsea finally make contact to swap Kepa for Lampard choice GK

The Blues are eyeing to land young shot-stopper from Milan by swapping with their Spaniard Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Frank Lampard’s side is quite busy in this summer transfer window. Chelsea has already signed some big names this summer but still haven’t finished yet. After completing the signing of Ajax star midfielder Hakim Ziyech permanently for the new season, Lampard wants other departments to be strong as well. Lampard keenly looking to bolster his defense.

The defense has been a big issue for Chelsea in the past seasons. Especially at the left-back position, where Chelsea doesn’t have a prominent player. However, Chelsea has Emerson and Marcos Alonso for the left-back position but their recent performances are not impressive. Blues are indeed enjoying a wonderful summer with back to back ‘big name’ signings. They are signing up stars for the future and to fix the current situation as well.

The Londoners announced two big signings this week as they finalized a deal with star players. Firstly, it’s Ben Chilwell from Leicester City FC, who has been Blue’s long time target to fill their left-side of the pitch. It’s making way for Emerson and Alonso to find a new club this summer after his arrival. The club also reached an agreement and confirmed the signing of this season’s Champions League finalist PSG skipper Thiago Silva.

Not only Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell, but Lampard’s side have also signed highly rated free agent Malang Saar from France. The versatile defender could be the player to be loaned out to Bundesliga to get game time. The youngster can play as both Full-back and as a defensive midfielder. This makes him more special and had a good season at the French league the last term. Bundesliga side Schalke and Bayern Leverkusen are more interested to have the youngster on loan.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea interest to land the 21-year-old shot-stopper Gianluigi Donnarumma in part-exchange for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Man who snubbed Real Madrid for a stay at Milan

Chelsea are currently in advanced talks with Italian goalie to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga at Stamford Bridge. The 21-year-old Italian shot-stopper is highly rated for his acrobatic saves. His natural tall appearance gives him the advantage to own the goal. Donnarumma is six-foot and three-inch tall posing big in front of the goal.

Donnarumma has been a regular for AC Milan in the goal of doing good so far. The youngster is just 21-years-old and has a lot to offer in the coming years for Italy. Donnarumma has already made 16 senior appearances for his National side amidst Buffon’s availability. The numbers are in favor of Donnarumma having kept 61 clean sheets in his 178 appearances in Seria A for Milan.

His current form is not bad as well in Italy making over appearances of 39 for AC Milan last season and keeping 14 clean sheets to his name. Donnarumma has age on his side and with experience in Italy, he can conquer Premier League now. The lad is ready and will be good for him to work alongside Milan legend Thiago Silva at Chelsea.

Real Madrid’s Zidane is a big admirer of this giant shot-stopper from Italy. Madrid has already tried to capture his services in the past back in 2018 but was snubbed by Gianluigi to stay in Milan. Famous players agent Mino Raiola manages Donnarumma as well and revealed that Italian rejected Real Madrid’s interest and wanted a hike in salary at Milan. The goalie has a contract with AC Milan until 2021 summer.

Donnarumma’s alternative ready?

Chelsea are also keeping tabs on France as well to sign a young goalkeeper for the future. If they failed to land Donnarumma, who’s a top goalkeeper with many interests Blues are planning for an alternative. It’s Renne’s goalie Edouard Mendy, who had a good season in Ligue 1. However, Chelsea has experienced shot-stopper Cabellaro in their squad. He has been the go-to man for Lampard after Kepa’s performance and attitude.

Kepa’s attitude in the Carabao Cup final game against Manchester City disappointed fans and the management. The youngster showed his grit and was adamant to come out to let Cabellaro keep the goal. Kepa won against Sarri, but Pep Guardiola’s side won the title. As a result, the management now wants to offload their record signing goalie for a newbie.

Edouard Mendy is Rennes’ number one and they don’t want to lose out on their shot-stopper. However, Chelsea are keen to land the goalkeeper from France. Rennes are demanding 45 million Euros for their number one, while Chelsea are ready to pay only 22 million Euros for Mendy. Lampard lost faith in Kepa and wants an immediate replacement this summer.
