The forward was expected to move amidst of the on going crisis at the club.
Chelsea right now are finding themselves more and more in trouble. The Blues look distant from finishing in top 4 this season. There has been rumors of Maurizio Sarri facing sack in the coming days. The club is yet to find director of football and face a transfer ban of 12 months. Then there’s Eden Hazard who looks likely to leave Stamford Bridge in summer due to all this. All this has come at a time when the contracts of David Luiz, Olivier Giroud and Gary Cahill are close to expiring. With tough times coming for Chelsea it seems this Chelsea attacker has revealed he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea striker Gonzalo Higuain says it is his “intention” to be at Stamford Bridge next season. The Argentina international, 31, joined the Blues on loan until the end of the season from Italian giants Juventus in January. Last week, Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri said Higuain – who has scored three goals in eight Premier League appearances – needs “time to improve”.
Higuain said, “I want to do as well as I can so I can be here for next season.
I came here and I wanted to stay. It’s a good city, you live well and you can be relaxed but also enjoy yourself – so my intention is to stay here.” Higuain scored twice on his home debut against Huddersfield in February, but has not netted since the Blues’ 2-1 win over Fulham in March.
Chelsea have the option to buy him for £31.3m, or to extend his loan deal until June 2020 for £15.6m. Higuain told the Chelsea website, “I’m happy here. It’s always nice to try a new league and it’s my first taste of the Premier League. Obviously it’s a period where I’m adapting but I’m hoping that, although I’ve only got a short time, I can finish well. The best thing we can do is qualify for the Champions League and hopefully win the Europa League too.” Chelsea will be hoping to get more of Higuain as they battle with Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal for the race of Champions League. Chelsea climbed to third in the Premier League by beating West Ham 2-0 on Monday and travel Slavia Prague for the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on Thursday.
Chelsea will be happy to know the intention of Gonzalo Higuain. The likes of Olivier Giroud, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eden Hazard all remain coy on committing their future at Stamford Bridge. However Higuain needs to score goals if he intends to stay at Chelsea.
