Chelsea has tipped to involve Ross Barkley along with a cash-in Declan Rice deal.
To convince Premier League rivals West Ham United, Chelsea is ready to offer Ross Barkley along with cash for Declan Rice. The former Chelsea’s academy man has taken the midfield of a rival club on the storm. Hence, Chelsea wants to sign him this summer and make up for defensive woes.
Chelsea has been the most active club in the transfer market and make up for a year of a transfer ban. The club has completed several new arrivals with the likes of Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Ben Chilwell, Kai Havertz, Malang Sarr, and Thiago Silva. Besides this, the Blues have agreed on terms for goalkeeper Édouard Mendy and Chelsea would announce the deal in the forthcoming days.
Meanwhile, Chelsea is not done yet. According to Football Insider (h/t Football London), the club is involved in making another transfer bid ready for Declan Rice. If the deal for Rice hit the spot it would be Chelsea’s eighth summer signing. Moreover, the Arrival of new signing also demands the outgoing of players from the squad.
Declan Rice has been on Chelsea’s transfer radar for a month now. They tend to complete their eighth signing. But the club has valued its midfielder at around £80million.
One player that would fit the bill as per Chelsea is Ross Barkley. Frank Lampard is willing to offer midfielder Barkley in a deal along with a lump sum amount to the Hammers. So that the club could easily part ways with the Rice.
How the addition of Barkley in a deal for Rice would help Chelsea?
Chelsea has already spent a huge amount in the transfer window and do not want to add a burden to their financial resources. Not only the addition of £30million rated English Midfielder would reduce stress on their budget. As they would pay a lesser amount to Hammers. But this will also give an opportunity to Barkley to have enough playtime in the future.
The 26-year old midfielder failed to impress at the Stamford Bridge and has struggled for his form since arriving from Everton in 2018. In two years of the spell, he could only give 50 appearances for Chelsea, indicating towards low playtime.
Furthermore, Kai Havertz from Bundesliga and the presence of Mason Mount have reduced him in the pecking order. Havertz is one of the brilliant midfielders who could take Chelsea’s midfield to another level. Comparing the two in stats and playing style. It is easier to understand Barkley wouldn’t be able to hit the spot at Chelsea.
The former blues academy player joined the Premier League rivals in 2014 at a very early age. Since making a move there has been no looking back for Rice. He has developed as one of the best defensive midfielders in the country.
Therefore West ham boss David Moyes has set an £80million valuation on him. Also convincing that the club is not ready to sell the English man who has played for every minute for Hammers. Or the offer must lie around the asking price has been insistent that the club has no intention of selling Rice this summer. (h/t Football.london)
Rice is versatile enough to play at the midfield and at the heart of the defense. The versatility and prowess make him a perfect fit for Lampard’s style. Chelsea would let him play at the center of the midfield should they seal a deal.
