Former Blue Frank Lampard has revealed his praise and admiration for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey and feels the club can build around the Welshman.
Ramsey has just under 18 months left on his current deal and Arsenal does not want to find themselves in another Alexis Sanchez type situation with their highly-rated star. The 27-year-old arrived at the Emirates back in 2008 and has gone on to become one of Arsenal’s most influential players ever since.
Although injuries have hampered his growth throughout his career, Ramsey has shown glimpses of his world-class talent this season as well. But with Arsenal struggling in the league and not moving forward, there will be a host of top clubs willing to swoop in for the versatile midfielder.
Lampard Full of Praise for Ramsey-
Speaking to Evening Standard, ex-Chelsea midfielder Lampard hinted at the importance of having Ramsey at the Emirates and how Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger could even build a team around him. The 39-year-old Englishman said, “I’m an admirer of Aaron Ramsey and Arsenal must try to secure his long-term future at the club. He is class when at his best and I do feel there is another level for him to strive for. He showed great quality at the 2016 European Championships”
Ramsey scored a crucial second goal for Arsenal at the San Siro during their first leg clash against AC Milan in the Europa League, but Lamps was worried about his constant change of position on the pitch, “one wonders if he’s ever felt he’s the main man at Arsenal and that’s maybe why he might consider looking elsewhere.
“I feel some sympathy for him because his position has changed over the years at the club. Sometimes, because they’ve had so many attacking midfielders, he’s been dropped further back.”, added the Chelsea legend.
Definitely, have to agree with Frank on this one, Ramsey is a top-class footballer on his day and can make the Arsenal side tick in midfield. Arsenal has a mouth-watering prospect with Ozil, Wilshere, Xhaka, and Ramsey in the midfield four. However, Arsene Wenger still isn’t able to bring the very best out of Ramsey on a consistent basis, which we have been accustomed to every now and then.
