Antonio Conte has been linked with a move to the Bernabeu, with the Italian manager said to be keen on taking a few Chelsea stars with him to Real Madrid.
The Los Blancos are hoping to get a deal done in order to secure the services of the former Juventus manager. Conte has not had the best of times this season in west London.
His team, who won the Premier League title in his debut season in England, have now failed to make an impression this season, and the fact that the Italian boss has already sold some of his key stars, has not helped his cause as well.
It was reported by Starsport recently that the players were not happy with his training regime and were complaining about it. With that said and done, there have been talks of his potential exit from Stamford Bridge in recent times. It seems that the champions of Europe could be his next employers.
Real themselves have struggled to make an impact in the La Liga this season, and are said to be looking for a change, with Zinedine Zidane’s job said to be in danger.
According to a report from media outlet Don Balon from Spain, apart from Conte, Germany head-coach Joachim Low, along with Tottenham’s Argentine chief Mauricio Pochettino are the top managerial targets to replace the French ex-World Cup winner.
Things are become even more interesting, with the Blues boss hoping to take a few of his stars along with him to Madrid. The likes of Eden Hazard, Cesar Azpilicueta and Thibaut Courtois have been linked with the champions of Spain as well.
This could be a sign of worse things to come for the English outfit, who are trying hard to regain some winning momentum and have not been able to really do so this term.
Author’s Take –
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich doesn’t seemed to be concerned about the fact whether his manager wants to stay at the club or leave. However, he would surely be bothered with the news that some of his other top players also might leave along with him.
If it does happen, the Londoners will be severely weakened, unless they are able to bring in some quality stars and soon. It will be an interesting six months or so for the club now.
