It has now been confirmed by reports coming from Spanish media outlets that west London giants Chelsea have put forward an offer to bring Arsenal legend Marc Overmars to Stamford Bridge, as the Blues try to add the star to their back-room staff under new manager Antonio Conte. Sport have stated that Ajax’s director of football might be heading to west London in the next few days, if he accepts the offer to work along with the ex Italy boss in the upcoming campaign.
The 43 year old former Gunners’ winger had won the Premier League title and FA Cup double in his debut season in England under manager Arsene Wenger and has also been quite impressive since taking up his new role in his native country.
The former Barcelona man spent the last four seasons at the Eredivisie side and has managed to push through some really impressive signings using a very tight budget.
Overmars was given a new contract by Ajax, though he has not extended his stay at the club yet and the Blues have their hopes high, as they look to get back to winning ways under the ex Juventus boss.
Conte will be taking over this season from interim manager Guus Hiddink, who helped the Londoners finish at 10th place in the league, last term. It will be interesting to see how things shape up now prior to the start of the new season, as Chelsea look to get things back on track and get back to winning titles.
