According to reports, Chelsea are targeting AS Roma’s star Edin Dzeko to give competition to Alvaro Morata as the team’s front man.
Two years after leaving Manchester City, Edin Dzeko has been linked with a return to Premier League football, this time with Chelsea. The Blues are reportedly disappointed with Michy Batshuayi and are looking to bring in the experience of Dzeko to assist and challenge Morata, who is suffering a dry spell in front of goal.
The Blues were hoping to sign West Ham United’s Andy Carroll, however, an ankle injury has ended any hopes of the move ever happening for the Englishman. This has forced Chelsea boss Antonio Conte to look to the Serie A to solve his problems in front of goal.

Dzeko linked with a January move to Chelsea
According to Italian TV service MediaSet Premium, the Blues have been locked in negotiations with Roma. They hope to bring the 31-year-old Bosnian back to Premier League football before the end of the January transfer window.
Conte wishes to improve Morata both on and off the pitch with another striker in his squad. The Italian boss is keen to bring someone like Dzeko back to the English top flight,
Apart from Dzeko, Chelsea are also rumored to hold a great interest in Roma’s fullback Emerson Palmieri.
However, getting both players will be difficult for Conte as he hopes to find a forward to help Morata in his goal-scoring responsibilities.
Bringing back someone like Dzeko could very well work out for Conte and Chelsea. The Bosnian is a proven quantity in the Premier League and would move at an opportunity to return to England.
