Chelsea is looking offload some players. The Blues have already signed five players this summer.
Chelsea has been brilliant in the transfer window so far. If there’s one team that has used the summer window as an October sale offer, it’s the London-based club. It is quite right to say Lampard knows what he is doing. At least, fans hope so.
Yesterday, Brazilian veteran Thiago Silva confirmed that he has signed for Frank Lampard’s side. The Blues finished their season with a double loss to European Champions Bayern Munich. Once that chapter finished, Chelsea has been busy since.
However, entry of fresh legs means an eventual exit of old ones. Frank Lampard inherited a side that was sketched out by Conte and Maurizio Sarri. As a result, starting a new era at Stamford bridge will see certain departures.
According to SportsMole, former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is eyeing his protégé N’Golo Kante in Italy. Perhaps, Inter Milan are ready to add a fantastic sweetener to smoothen the transfer. It is only time that may say if a swap will ultimately happen.
Chelsea struggling with huge squad
Frank Lampard has done a wonderful job in securing a Champions League position with a squad that could not make any fresh signings due to the ban. The rise of youngster Billy Gilmour is not the only example, as Mason Mount, Pulisic and Abraham have all earned their spot in the team.
As a result, the squad inflated due to the existing first-team starters. The squad already had the trio of Kante-Kovacic-Jorginho before Gilmour and Mount made it to the big stage. Unfortunately, the rise of the youngsters pushed the stars as some struggled with injuries.
In the upcoming season, Chelsea has signed Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Thiago Silva, and Malang Sarr while Kai Havertz remains on the cards. With further arrivals, injuries may be the killing blade to shut the door for once first-team regulars, including N’golo Kante.
Ngolo Kante : The humblest wizard of football
The France International pocketed Lionel Messi in the World Cup, lives the most humble of lifestyles among high profile footballers and has 2 Premier League titles and 1 World Cup to his name. Kante rose to prominence under Ranieri when he won the title with the Foxes.
Post the win, he moved to Stamford bridge in 2016 for a fee of around £30 million. Since then he has played 170 times for the Blues, scoring 11 goals and assisting further seven. However, the last season has been rather forgettable for him, with injuries curbing his season midway.
As compared to 2018/19, he made almost half appearances with performance rather poor as compared to this season. He played 53 matches with 5 goals and 4 assists in 2018/19, earning around 2 points per game. This season, he has played just 28 times, scoring 3 with no assists.
What is Conte’s offer?
Antonio Conte has won the League title with Kante in his team. The Italian knows to guide the Frenchman to glory. For a player that has a lowered morale after Chelsea’s constant preference for youngsters, Conte is the perfect panacea.
As a sweetener, Inter Milan wishes to involve Argentine forward Lautaro Martínez in the deal. Martinez has scored 21 goals this season pairing up brilliantly with Romelu Lukaku. However, he wants to leave, most likely to Barcelona. If Conte can convince him to change his preferred destination, the deal can be looked at as a possibility. Inter Milan are already ready to part ways with players Milan Skrinar and Marcelo Brozovic too. (Stats source: Transfermarkt)
