Chelsea News: Another twist in Chelsea’s pursuit of Jules Kounde. The Blues are looking to reinforce their defensive lines and Kounde is a major target. Although, this issue might complicate things a little.
Kounde has had an on and off hamstring issue through the duration of this season. It was bothering him but he did not want to miss out on games and was dealing with it on a personal level.
Although in his last international game for France, the player seems to have aggravated his injury and will now undergo surgery for the issue. This could go either way for Chelsea.
Sevilla could either accept a cut-price and confirm the deal quickly or prolong the issue until when Kounde regains his fitness. For Chelsea though it shouldn’t change their approach if their interest in the player is real.

In the last couple of years, Kounde has barely missed any game time with Sevilla. Although, the timing of his injury is pretty damning as now it gives Sevilla grounds to prolong the transfer.
With big clubs like Bayern Munich, and Chelsea showing interest Jounde would be tempted to move. As per reports from the Athletic, it is not a major issue and Kounde would be out for around 4 weeks.
That accounts for half of the transfer window, which means if Sevilla wishes they can stall any deals and push for a price price in the second half of the window where naturally the pursuing club is more desperate.
Although, as per reports from Sky Sports Kounde is willing to consider a move to Stamford Bridge. That could act as a plus point for Chelsea as the player would push things from his end too.

Jules had his breakthrough season last year where not only he became a regular for Sevilla but also received his first callup for the French National Team. Ever since he has been a regular for France boss Didier Deschamps.
Sevilla has been doing okayish in the LaLiga. They haven’t been close to the league title but did win the Europa League in 2020. Still the problem for Kounde is that he belives he deserves to be in a better team.
Sevilla’s own chief executive Jose Maria Cruz spoke about Kounde’s future. She said that while the player surely respects the club and it’s wishes, his desire to play for bigger clubs is evident.
Kounde can hardly be blamed as any young talemnted player would want to comptete for big things. Chelsea could offer him that chance should be decide to move, however the Blues will have to be swift as Bayern are also keeping a keen eye on him.
