Chelsea news: Thomas Tuchel was frustrated and sad after the Blues sacked him, according to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
The Stamford Bridge outfit parted ways with Tuchel after their defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League, which was preceded by a mixed start to the 22/23 season.
Chelsea’s decision to relieve Tuchel of duties caught many by surprise. The Blues were not in a position – they sit sixth in the Premier League tables – from which they could not cover the lost ground.
Chelsea had also backed Tuchel heavily in the summer transfer window. They made eight signings in 2022 summer transfer window as they bolstered their squad.
Chelsea news: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang breaks silence over Tuchel sacking
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was one of the players Chelsea signed in the summer transfer window. Aubameyang had previously worked under Tuchel at Borussia Dortmund. Tuchel was keen for Chelsea to sign Aubameyang as he wanted a striker.
However, their reunion only lasted a few days as Chelsea decided to part ways with Tuchel.
Aubameyang has now broken his silence over Chelsea’s decision to sack Tuchel. He admitted it was sad to see Tuchel get the sack and said he will try to speak to the German as soon as possible.
“Everyone knows the relationship that I had with Thomas,” Aubameyang told Hayters TV after Chelsea played out a 1-1 with RB Salzburg. “It’s always sad when someone leaves the club. Obviously, I just saw him for a few days.
“When you play football you have to adapt very quickly to some moments in the season, this can happen.”
He added: “I think he was a bit frustrated and sad, obviously, I will try to talk to him as soon as possible.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea have played six games in the Premier League this season and have collected ten points. They have won three matches, lost two, and shared points in one.
Their victories came against West Ham, Everton, and Leicester City. They succumbed to defeats to both Leeds United and Southampton. Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur held them to a 2-2 draw.
Chelsea’s Champions League match against Salzburg was their first since Graham Potter became their manager. But the Premier League side failed to take home all three points as Salzburg held them to a 1-1 draw.
Chelsea’s match against Liverpool has been postponed and, as things stand, they face Crystal Palace in their next game.
