Chelsea News: There will be a lot of pressure on the new administration as Chelsea heads into a new horizon. This season could see a lot of departures from the club and they will have to match that with new arrivals.
The obvious thing to work on is Chelsea’s defense. With Rudiger and Christensen gone, Thomas Tuchel now faces a shortage of center-backs he can rely on. Thiago Silva too only has a couple of good seasons in him.
The Blues are getting busy as the transfer window is now officially open. Kounde is one of three summer targets for Chelsea and the club has allegedly launched its first bid for the Frenchman.
This is not the first time Chelsea are trying to sign Kounde. They have tried to approach Sevilla in the past too but the Spaniards slapped an €80 million price tag on Kounde. Although, he might be available for cheaper this time out.

This time things are very different from when Chelsea last approached Kounde. The club had 4 good central defenders available which now has come down to only 1 or 2. It is now a priority for them to sign a good defender and Kounde heads the list.
The Frenchman had a breakthrough season last year and has followed up with a solid season this year too. He featured in almost all games for Sevilla making 44 appearances in the season.
Chelsea needs someone like him who can play out the entire season for the club. As per reports from Football London, The Blues have tabled an offer of €50million (£42.6m) for Kounde to Sevilla.
Although Sevilla might be willing to accept less for Kounde, they would be in no rush to conclude the deal. The club just sold Diego Carlos and now selling another one of their key pieces would be a tough decision for the club.

Jules Kounde is the priority for Chelsea but they cannot afford to rely on one transfer. Considering the situation the ball’s in Sevilla’s court as they know that Chelsea is desperately looking for Centre Backs.
That is why they can afford to drag things on and milk as much out of the Blues as they can. On the other hand, should the deal collapse Chelsea will have to look at other alternatives.
As per reports, Milan Skriniar is one of those alternatives for the club. At the age of 27, Skrinniar would certainly be a good pickup as he has been one of the most consistent players for Inter Milan.
There were talks about a swap + add-on deal including Chelsea’s Loftus Cheek and Inter’s Skriniar. Chelsea could take advantage of the fact that this is the last year of Skriniar’s contract with Inter.
