Chelsea news: Antonio Rudiger established himself among the best defenders in the Premier League since joining the Blues for £34 million from AS Roma in 2017.
He played 119 league games for the club thus far, scoring eight goals in the process. He helped the Blues win one FA Cup, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup and one UEFA Europa League.
The Germany international is currently in the last year of his contract at Stamford Bridge. The 28-year old year could move away from the club for free in the summer.
Chelsea news: Antonio Rudiger to sign a new contract?
Nothing has changed. Everybody knows the situation, let’s wait and see. We have things to offer and he is the player he is in a Chelsea shirt and a Chelsea environment. He knows that very well.”
Rudiger is a vital member of Thomas Tuchel’s side. He scored the Blues’ only goal as they defeated Spurs 1-0 in the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-finals on Thursday. They will now play either Liverpool or Arsenal in the final of the competition on February 27.
Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have shown interest in signing Rudiger on a free transfer. Apart from Rudiger, César Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen are other defenders who are in the final years of their respective contracts at the club. Tuchel could be seen signing an entirely new backline in the summer if they fail to reach an agreement with their defensive trio.
Chelsea revive their interest in Sevilla Jules Kounde
The Blues linked heavily with Sevilla defender Jules Kounde in last summer’s transfer window. But they failed to meet Sevilla’s €80 million valuation for the France international
It is now reported that the London-based club have revived their interest in Kounde. Thomas Tuchel wants the 23-year old to arrive at Stamford Bridge this month as they look set to chase Manchester City for the league title during the second half of the season.
However, Liverpool and Real Madrid have also shown interest in signing Kounde recently. The Blues need to act faster in order to bring the talented Frenchman to west London.
Apart from Kounde, Juventus’ Matthijs de Ligt and Torino’s Gleison Bremer are other defenders linked with Stamford Bridge recently.
Chelsea are currently sitting second in the English Premier League table with 43 points from 21 games. They will play Manchester City and Brighton and Hove Albion respectively for their next English Premier League fixtures.
