Chelsea News: Once again the lure of Real Madrid has proven to be bigger than those of premier English clubs. There is a certain level of greatness attached to the club that just pulls players towards it.
Chelsea and Wolverhampton were both looking for a young keeper to reinforce their ranks and Gabriel Slonina was a target for both the clubs. The American just turned 18 and has put in good performances in the MLS.
If you can identify good players at a very young age they can become a part of the core of your team. Mendy has done well for Chelsea but they might want someone who can overshadow him.
Madrid too wants someone who can take up the mantle from Courtois in the future. It seems that Slonina and his representatives are flattered by Madrid’s interest and will prefer them over anyone else.

This is what the real legacy of Madrid is. Almost every player that Madrid looks upon welcomes the opportunity to join such a prestigious club. Chelsea had already presented their offer for Slonina.
Wolverhampton was even in advance talks with Chicago Fire and the deal was almost done. Although, now that Madrid has come knocking, the player’s camp wants to make sure that the Slonina’s destination is the Bernabeu.
Jaime Garcia of Starting XI Player Management gave this statement as per the Mirror. “It should be an honor for Chicago, and MLS, to have Real Madrid take notice in one of their players,”
You can see that even Madrid’s approach is enough to sway the mind of players. Garcia went on to say that Chicago would look to find an agreement and help in achieving Gabriel Slonina’s dream to play for Madrid.
A move to Real Madrid will be a long-term project for the youngster.

As of now, there is no chance that Gabriel could directly get first-team action with the team. Thibaut Courtois is in splendid form and will be at the mantle of Madrid for another 4-5 years.
Although, Slonina could slot as in Madrid’s backup keeper. Should an injury happen to Thibaut he could get his chance. The current replacement Andrea Lunin hasn’t seen much progress under Ancelotti.
But since the club is ready to make an approach for Gabriel they must see potential in him. They are not alone in that as Bayern Munich too made an approach for Gabriel’s availability.
At the age of 18, a switch from the MLS to LaLiga is what every young player dreams of. It could be a golden chance for Gabriel Slonina to become part of one of the biggest projects in the world.
