Chelsea news: Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea are unarguably one of the best teams in the world. They are currently in absolutely top-notch form and are blowing away each and every team in their way.
Chelsea defeated Juventus by four goals to nil in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday night. Callum Hudson-Odoi, Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James and Timo Werner all got on the scoresheet for the club.
An absolutely comprehensive win for the London club who dominated the Italian club right from the onset. The Blues gave absolutely nothing away to Juventus and are currently placed top of their group table.
One of the standout players not just from last night but overall this season has been Reece James. The academy product from Cobham has cemented his position in the team and is one of the best around at the moment.
James has been prolific in attack and has got into the habit of scoring regularly. The battle for supremacy between him and Trent Alexander Arnold seems to be an ongoing thing for seasons to come.
And while Chelsea are facing problems in renewing contracts with players like Mason Mount and Antonio Rudiger, Reece James is one player they need not worry about.
Chelsea news: Reece James to STAY at Chelsea till 2025?
Reece James’ current contract with Chelsea has been signed in January 2020 and runs up until 2025. Moreover, there’s also an option to extend if there arises the need. But given the form, he’s in who wouldn’t do so?
Hence Chelsea need not worry about Reece James’s contract negotiations. According to reports, Reece James might be offered a massive new contract with high wages considering his performance.
“Right now he plays as a wing-back. He does this on a very high level. For me, I see no reason why we should now get carried away and think about things like ‘is he the best in the world, the best in England or the best in Europe’. This does not help us,” said Thomas Tuchel before the Juventus game.
“I am happy when he tries to be the best Reece James today in training. If he plays he needs to be the best version of himself in the best position. Reece can play in a back three, as a wing-back and for England he played in a midfield position. He did for us when we played in Aston Villa last year.
“He is improving and takes responsibility and it is needed. James is far from finished in his development. He is super young, has all the potential to be a big and important player for Chelsea.
He is on his way. Not more and obviously not less. I feel him dedicated and hungry for more. This is what we want. ”
