Antonio Conte Doesn’t Need “Overpriced” Rodriguez On His Side

Chelsea has reportedly dropped their interest in Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez thinking 60 million pounds price tag is too much for this midfielder.

The last couple of weeks saw Antonio Conte having some serious interests in the Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez after there was news regarding this Colombian’s interest in moving away from the club.

However, according to latest reports by The Sun, Chelsea are reconsidering getting this player as they think that Real Madrid is putting an overpriced tag on this player.

Clarifying their decision the Premier League table toppers have revealed that Rodriguez doesn’t seem to fit Antonio Conte’s balanced formation. He currently has a strong attack with N’golo Kante and Willian accompanied by Diego Costa or Hazard up front.

Chelsea also might have learned a lesson from their last expensive transfer of Fernando Torres, who was brought from Liverpool for 50 million pounds and proved to be of no value to the club.

However, this decision of Chelsea doesn’t mean that it is the end of Rodriguez’s dreams to play for a Premier League club as Manchester United are still looking for a player who would act as a link between their two forwards.

Jose Mourinho is still looking for a player who can fit in his attacking formation and James Rodriguez might prove to be the key required to unlock the Red Devils true potential.

While Manchester United is currently aiming for Atletico Madrid’s Antonio Greizmann, they might also consider Rodriguez who is a member of Atletico’s rival club.

James Rodriguez was signed by Real Madrid back in the year 2014 after he proved his potential by becoming the top scorer in World Cup. This player who was brought in for 68 million pounds has had an impressive time at Real Madrid.

However, with Zinedine Zidane taking over he hasn’t been able to get much of a play time and is considering a move away from the club in January.

Now with Chelsea not in the race for this Real Madrid ace, Manchester United can have a clear shot at this player provided Antonio Greizmann rejects their bid.

With a poor start to the season Manchester United currently sit 6th in the table 13 points behind Chelsea and with either Greizmann or Rodriguez on their side they can expect their dreams of winning the title to rise once again.
