English Premier League giants Chelsea want to sign French international Benjamin Pavard from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
Pavard started his football journey at the academy of Lille. The defender then graduated from the Lille academy and was promoted to the main team.
The defender played only one season for the senior side of the French club before joining Bundesliga side VFB Stuttgart. In Stuttgart, Pavard rose as one of the best right-backs in the world. He was then rewarded with a spot in the French squad.
Benjamin Pavard then won the World Cup 2018 in Russia with the France national team. His goal against Argentina which brought them level at the round of 16 was arguably one of the best strikes in the history of World Cups. Finally, in January 2019, Pavard signed for Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich. The defender then was a part of the Bavarian team that lifted the historical sextuple.
Chelsea Interested to Sign Pavard

Now according to a report from Todo Fichajes, English Premier League side, Chelsea are exploring the possibility of signing Benjamin Pavard from Bayern Munich.
Chelsea signed English gaffer Graham Potter just after the end of the summer transfer window to replace their Champions League-winning manager Thomas Tuchel. Since then, Potter has done pretty well for the Blues.
Under him, Chelsea are currently in sixth place in the EPL table with twenty-one points from twelve matches. They are quite within the race for the top four and also have qualified for the next stage of the UEFA Champions League as the group winners.
They recently suffered a huge loss when their right back Reece James was sidelined with an injury. In his absence, Potter had to play Azpilicueta, Ruben Loftus Cheek, Sterling, and Pulisic in an unconventional wing-back position. Hence they want to sign a new fullback.Â
French fullback Benjamin Pavard has been one of the best players for Bayern in recent seasons. His ability to play in almost all the positions in defense makes him a huge asset for the German side. But his contract with the Bavarians will end in 2024. The fullback reportedly does not want to continue in Germany and will not sign a contract extension with Bayern Munich.
Thus if Chelsea submits a good offer to Bayern, the German side will sell the fullback. The Blues were earlier interested to bring him at the last summer transfer window. But they failed to secure him and Pavard remained in Germany.Â
Now apart from Chelsea, La Liga giants, Atletico Madrid are also in the race for the fullback. The Spanish side wants to bolster their defense with the arrival of Pavard. So if Chelsea wants to sign him, they will have to move fast.
Chelsea will play arch-rivals Arsenal in their next match.
