Chelsea desperate to complete £47m Isco transfer from Real Madrid this January

Chelsea has set their sights on Real Madrid’s star midfielder Isco, reigniting their interest in the Spaniard. The January transfer window slowly nears its closing day, as a result, Chelsea is doing everything to secure the Spaniard.

Chelsea is looking to strengthen their squad following the lifting of the transfer ban placed on the Premier League side. Likewise, the recent departure of Eden Hazard in the summer left the Blues in need of an attacking midfielder.

According to reports, the Frank Lampard side is willing to offer as much as £55 million to secure the Spaniard. Securing Isco would definitely boost the Blue’s attacking play, allowing Ngolo Kante to play more in a defensive midfielder role.

Isco Career at a Glance at Real Madrid

Isco’s muscle injury in September has seen him suffer a dip in form. This has seen him make only 16 appearances across all competitions in the 2019/2020 season.

With six starts in La Liga matches this season, rumours suggest Isco has fallen out of favour with the boss. The rumours do not seem farfetched considering the player has failed to add any goals or assists. Only a recent goal against Valencia in the recently concluded Spanish Super Cup seems to be his achievement thus far.

Real Madrid

Isco has shown some improvements in form recently, a situation that might make Real Madrid hesitant in letting him go. Being amongst President Florentino Perez’s favourite players, it might take some persuasion and a significant offer to release the Spaniard.

Although Chelsea’s transfer ban has been reduced for this window, the Blues have not made any signing. Recent reports suggest Chelsea have already been to Spain to discuss a potential transfer for Isco this month. If talks are successful, it just might break the Blues to market silence being experienced so far.
