English Premier League giants Chelsea have handed the defending Serie-A champions AC Milan an agonizing 2-0 loss in their latest Champions League outing.
Italian midfielder Jorginho and Gabonese striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang were on the scoresheet as the Blues continued their brilliant form under Graham Potter.
Chelsea manager Potter deployed a 3-4-3 system. Spanish goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga started in goal. Chalobah, Silva and Koulibally played in the heart of Chelsea’s defence. Jorginho and Kovacic started in the base of midfield while Chilwell and James played as wingbacks. Mason Mount and Sterling started as double no,10s and Aubameyang was given the duty to lead the line.
Meanwhile, Milan played a 4-2-3-1 system. Kalulu, Gabbia, Tomori and Theo Hernandez formed the backline while Tatarusanu started under the bar. Ismael Bennacer and Sandro Tonali completed the double pivot and Krunic was given a free no.10 role. Rafael Leao and Brahim Diaz were put on the wings while Oliver Giroud started up front.
Chelsea did the double over Milan
The English Premier League side had a comfortable start to the match. Graham Potter’s started dominating the home side right from the beginning.
Chelsea got their first big chance of the match when AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori pulled Mason Mount into the box which resulted in a penalty for the visiting team. Chelsea skipper Jorginho calmly slotted it past Tetarusanu and gave Chelsea the lead.
Meanwhile, it was a double blow for the Serie-A giants as Fikayo Tomori was given a red card for the challenge.
Soon after that, Chelsea scored their second goal when their summer signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang defeated Tetarusanu with a side-footed finish.
Chelsea then failed to get any more goals before half-time and went back into the dressing room with a 2-0 lead.
After the restart, Chelsea suffer a big blow when Reece James was subbed off after going down for the second time in the match. The English fullback was then replaced by Cesar Azpilicueta.
Meanwhile, the one-man disadvantage seemed too much for the Italian giants as they failed to create much. Graham Potter’s team confidently kept a clean sheet and the match ended in a 2-0 win for the Blues.
This was Chelsea’s second win over the Italian giants within a span of two weeks. Earlier Graham Potter’s side defeated Milan 3-0 at home.

With this victory, Chelsea climbed to the top of Group E. They now have 7 points from their first four matches. The Blues will play against Aston Villa in their next match.
Meanwhile, Milan went down to the bottom of the table with only 4 points from these 4 matches. They will now face Hellas Verona in their next outing in the domestic league.
