The player was unused substitute in 2-0 loss to Manchester United.
Chelsea are going through tough time. What started as a wonderful season for them is now turning out to be a bad one. Chelsea have only scored once in their last three Premier Leagues. They are yet to register their first away Premier League win in 2019. After their 6-0 humiliating defeat to Manchester City there was an inquest held by Chelsea. With pressure of delivering victories increasing on Sarri, it seems this Chelsea player was angry on Sarri over F.A Cup snub.
Callum Hudson-Odoi fuming with Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri over FA Cup snub. Callum Hudson-Odoi was left seething after being left on the Chelsea bench yet again by Maurizio Sarri and is set to pursue a move away from the club in the summer. The teenager was the subject of four bids from Bayern Munich in the January transfer window, the last of which reached a staggering £35million, though Chelsea rejected the offers despite Hudson-Odoi handing in a transfer request. It was expected that the 18-year-old would get a more prominent role in the side in the second half of the season as the Blues tried to convince him to extend his stay.
Under-fire Maurizio Sarri has yet to start him in a Prem game and also kept him on the bench during the FA Cup defeat to Manchester United on Monday. Hudson-Odoi was expected to feature more under Sarri after Chelsea told him to stay at Stamford Bridge. Assistant manager Gianfranco Zola’s comments – that the England Under-19 forward is getting more chances than other players his age – have not helped Chelsea’s attempt to keep him at the club. Contract talks are not scheduled, with the club yet to submit a formal offer after opening discussions. And persuading him to stay now looks unlikely regardless of Sarri’s future as the player has made it clear his heart is set on moving.
The winger was ‘furious’ after his FA Cup snub, with Sarri bringing on Davide Zappacosta late on even though the team were trailing 2-0. Bayern have been joined in the race to sign the teenager by French champions Paris Saint-Germain. Moreover, with only a year left on his contract come summer, Chelsea could be forced to let him go for less than the £35m they were offered by Bayern in January – unless, perhaps, a new manager can convince him to stay at Stamford Bridge.
Sarri’s treatment of Odoi is under scrutiny. Callum Hudson Odoi can change fortunes of Chelsea this season. However, Chelsea’s treatment of youngsters tell one thing. It simply tells Chelsea haven’t learnt from their past mistakes. They sold Salah, Cuadrado and De Bruyne instead of developing them.
