Chelsea are willing to let go of Eden Hazard in exchange for Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele
Ousmane Dembele is on Chelsea’s radar according to a report by Spanish outlet Don Balon. The Frenchman signed for Barcelona in the summer in a deal worth a potential €147 million. He has since been injured twice, first in September when he suffered a thigh muscle rupture which kept him out for 3 and a half months. He suffered another muscle injury last week that is expected to keep him out for a month.
Anyhow, the youngster is one of the best talents in world football and the Chelsea board rate him as high as their star man Eden Hazard. Unlike Dembele, the Belgian has been in great form this season. He has scored 11 and assisted 8 in all competitions. However, he is reportedly angling for a move away from the Stamford Bridge. Real Madrid is being reported as his preferred destination with the Spanish giants also interested in acquiring his signatures.
The report states the Blues see the Champions League tie against Barcelona as a make or break for this potential deal. They feel if Conte’s men can knock out Barca out of the competition then they can tempt Hazard into signing a new contract. However, if they lose, they might offer Hazard to the Catalan giants. Notably, the Belgian has refused to sign a new contract with the London side. As revealed by his father, Hazard is waiting for an approach from Los Blancos.
A truly mind-boggling piece of news coming courtesy of Don Balon. I think it is safe to say that this transfer rumour should be taken with a considerable amount of salt. Barcelona has not expressed any interest in Eden Hazard and will be foolish to let go of Ousmane Dembele. The 20-year-old hasn’t yet got a chance to show his talent at the Camp Nou owing to bad luck but he can set the world alight on his day. Eden Hazard, on his part, will not move to the fiercest rivals of the club he harbours a dream of playing for.
