Chelsea To Battle Premier League Rivals To Sign Italian Center-Back This Summer

Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport has now stated that west London outfit Chelsea has joined their Premier League rivals Manchester City in the race to bring Leonardo Bonucci to England. The 29 year old Juventus centre-back, who is currently on vacation is wanted by both the Blues and City, as they look to strengthen their defensive line prior to the start of the new season.

The report further adds that the player wants to leave with City having made a €60m offer for the Italy international, with €8m said to be paid to the defender for a potential five-year deal.

The Serie A champions have not responded yet to the offer that was made by Pep Guardiola’s side, with multiple calls having been made by the English giants to get a deal done for the Italian defender.

With the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss arriving in Manchester this summer, there have been claims of a likely transformation to take place at the club, with a host of stars being linked with a move to the Etihad.
One such player is Bonucci, though Chelsea have been making some signings of their own as well and will have no intention of giving up easy.
New Blues’ boss Antonio Conte wants to add the quality star to his squad, with whom he worked with back in his days at Turin when he was in charge of Juve.

Bonucci won three consecutive Serie A titles under Conte and has grown in various aspects of the game. He has also an integral part of the Italy national side in the Euro 2016 tournament in France and it seems Conte now wants to bring his target to London this summer, as he looks to win titles with the club in the near future.
