Chelsea football club had one of the most successful transfer windows of all time during this summer. Marina Granovskia pulled off some major strings to bring in world-class talents to Stamford Bridge.
Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen, Ben Chilwell from Leicester City, Hakim Ziyech from AFC Ajax and Thiago Silva from Paris Saint Germain on a free transfer all in one.
However, Eduoard Mendy from Saint Rennes has easily become the most important signing of all. The Senegalese international has been a major difference for Chelsea at the back and as a last line of defense.
It’s easy to say Kepa Arrizabalaga was having a dismal time in between goalposts giving poor performances match after match. Frank Lampard needed a goalkeeper who would be confident and atleast make some saves!
Eduoard Mendy is a perfect replacement for Kepa Arrizabalaga as he’s strong in all the weak points of Kepa Arrizabalaga. The Spanish goalkeeper not being that physically intimidating had trouble collecting the ball from set-pieces.
This is where Eduoard Mendy is extremely strong and thus Chelsea’s defensive record has improved significantly. They’re hardly conceding from corners and free-kicks as Mendy can easily collect them.
Chelsea have Gianluigi Donnarumma on their radar
Although Chelsea signed Eduoard Mendy just recently, they’re planning on bolstering their goalkeeping department even more by bringing in talented Italian international and AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
According to reports, Chelsea are very much interested in the youngster who’s among the top goalkeepers in Europe. Marina Granovskia has been advised to strongly pursue after him and bring him to Stamford Bridge.
Moreover, Eduoard Mendy is currently 27 years of age and hence Chelsea are looking at a younger option to secure the future. That was the original plan with Kepa Arrizabalaga and giving him a seven-year contract but that didn’t go so well.
Moreover, it’s being reported that Chelsea are in fact in talks with Gianluigi Donnarumma at the moment and are persuading him to join the Blues. It will be a fantastic addition if they can manage to bring him in who according to Paulo Maldini is ‘the best goalkeeper in the world’.
Marina Granovskia has a huge task ahead of her as Gianluigi Donnarumma has previously said that he plans to stay at AC Milan for a long time. It’s the club wherein he started his journey and obviously has a deep connection.
However, Chelsea’s job will be a bit easier as his contract has currently run out and he can actively talk with agents and club with the January transfer window now open. Chelsea’s agents will be in full force to convince him.
